Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic is eying China's first international import expo as an excellent opportunity for trade, as well as an important window for Croatians to learn more about China today. Plenkovic, who will lead a big delegation to attend the China International Import Expo (CIIE) scheduled for Nov. 5 to 10 in Shanghai, expressed his willingness to strengthen cooperation with China during an interview with CCTV on October 31.
Croatian Prime Minister ,Andrej Plenkovic said "First of all, it's a great pleasure to be in the position to lead the Croatian delegation to China, to visit Beijing, to visit Hangzhou, to visit Shanghai, especially in the context of this very important import expo that Chinese President Xi Jinping is organizing. I think it is an excellent opportunity for Croatia to learn a little bit more about China today, to be able to take the benefit from the economic opening of China, its economic growth and the potentials that could increase our mutual trade relations, but also the new technologies which China is developing."
In 2017, China and Croatia saw their total import and export value reach about 923 million U.S. dollars, up 21.5 percent year on year. The value of Croatia's exports soared by 46.5 percent to 128 million U.S. dollars compared with 2016, according to the Croatian National Statistics Bureau. Plenkovic said that there is still much room for trade expansion between the two countries.
