China supports energy cooperation with Russia

Officials in China on Wednesday expressed support for energy cooperation with Russia, stating it was an important “cornerstone” in the countries' bilateral relations.“ The two sides will build a closer energy cooperation partnership, support companies from both sides to promote cooperation in various fields of energy, maintain the stability of industrial chain and supply chain of energy products, and jointly make contributions to the long-term health and stability of the global energy market”.

Director of China’s National Energy AdministrationZhang Jianhua said at a press briefing in Beijing.China is the biggest buyer of Russian oil and gas.Zhang also said discussions were being held about a natural gas pipeline project involving China, Mongolia and Russia.
