China steps up flood relief, prevention efforts

Chinese Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Water Resources on Tuesday issued 848 million yuan of central fiscal funds to support 12 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions in carrying out flood control and disaster relief work, especially for the repair of water conservancy facilities and the handling of potential risks.

Since mid-June, central China’s Hunan has experienced the heaviest rainfall this year. In addition, the heavy rainfall over the country’s second-largest freshwater Lake caused the continued rise of the water level of the lake.
