China saves, evacuates over 25,000 in flood season

China has saved and evacuated more than 25,000 people in flood hazard areas since entering this year's flood season, the Ministry of Emergency Management said on Tuesday. At a working conference of the Ministry in Beijing, officials disclosed that over 25,000 people have been saved or evacuated from flood hazard areas from May 26 to July 8. In total, 1.63 million people in seven provinces and regions were impacted by floods.

As a result, 77,000 people were relocated, and more than 1,600 rooms collapsed and 7,900 more were damaged to different extents. Jiangxi and Zhejiang in east China, Hunan in central China and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in south China are among the worst hit provinces and regions since the start of the flood season. More heavy rains are expected on Wednesday in many parts of China, including southwest, south, central, northeast and east China.
