Chinese and Indonesian militaries launched their first joint humanitarian and disaster relief exercise, Peace Garuda-2024, on Sunday.
The exercise, following the arrival of Chinese troops in Indonesia on Saturday, is being held at training grounds in Jakarta and Banten Province. Running until Saturday, it involves personnel from both countries' army, navy, and air force, with drills on search and rescue, medical aid, evacuation, NBC protection, and parachute delivery.
This event builds on the growing high-level military exchanges and cooperation between the two nations in recent years, as noted by Chinese Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Wu Qian.
The exercise is set to further enhance defense relations ahead of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Indonesia.
