China / ASEAN: Union Minister addresses fifth Information Harbor Forum

The 5th China-ASEAN Information Harbor Forum took place on Friday in Nanning of China, and Union Minister for Transport and Communication Admiral Tin Aung San sent a video address to the Forum.

In his address, the Union Minister stressed the importance of protecting citizens and their interests as digital transformation is implemented. Misinformation and hate speech on social media platforms, cyber ​​attacks and cyber fraud are on the rise.

Information can be shared and exchanged between China and ASEAN member countries and there is a need to deepen cooperation in various areas such as digital economy, digitalization and cyberspace.

In order to maximize the benefits of digital transformation and to deal with the challenges, it is necessary to work together. The Union Minister also explained the development conditions of Myanmar's communication and ICT sector and the future processes of the Digital Economy Development Committee.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Myanmar, the Union Minister expressed gratitude to the People's Republic of China for its support to ASEAN and Myanmar, and expressed his hope for stronger cooperation in the future.

The China-ASEAN Information Harbor Forum is to cooperate in the digital economy sector, to exchange ideas and to expand mutual partnership. The theme of the 5th forum is ‘Towards a shared digital future by jointly building the Digital Silk Road’.
