French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Beijing and Chengdu from Wednesday to Friday, according to Chinese foreign ministry. The trip marks his fourth visit to China and follows President Xi Jinping’s state visit to France last year. Both leaders are expected to discuss bilateral ties and major international and regional issues.

China notes that France was the first major Western country to establish ambassador-level relations with Beijing. The foreign ministry says recent years have seen increased exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

It adds that coordination on multilateral affairs has remained active. China says it views the visit as an opportunity to deepen cooperation and strengthen communication. It also frames the talks as part of broader efforts to support stable China-Europe relations.
