China and US officials meet in Geneva

The meeting between Chinese and American representatives in Switzerland is highly anticipated, as it’s the first face to face meeting between the two sides since the Trump administration announced sweeping tariffs back in April.  

The message from the Chinese side was straightforward and to the point. Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Lin Jian said on social media that the meeting between Chinese and U.S. senior officials on economic matters was requested by the U.S. side. U.S. markets saw a positive rebound when the meeting was announced earlier this week.
