China’s 16th Arctic scientific expedition has completed all planned ice station surveys, marking a significant milestone in the first-ever multi-point networked observation in the central Arctic Ocean. The Xuelong 2 and Xuelong polar research icebreakers carried out multidisciplinary integrated surveys at 19 ice stations in the high-latitude waters of the central Arctic Ocean.

This is the first large-scale application of domestically made equipment in the Arctic. The parameters observed will contribute to a better understanding of the characteristics and mechanisms of Arctic sea ice changes, improving the accuracy of climate prediction models.
