Chile produces its first green hydrogen molecule

Chilean President Sebastián Piñera on Monday hailed the production of the first green hydrogen molecule in the country.

The President attended a ceremony in Santiago where a green hydrogen charging station was unveiled at an Anglo American mining company site. He said the aim was to develop the industry towards being worth 30 billion dollars per year in clean energy exports. Domestically the energy source could also be used to power homes and public transport, the president said. So-called green hydrogen is produced by separating hydrogen from water using electrical current generated by renewable sources.
