Chile approves historic equal marriage law

The Chilean Congress approved Tuesday a historical bill that allows marriage and adoption by same-sex couples. With 21 votes in favour, eight against and three abstentions, members of the upper house approved the proposal.

President Sebastián Piñera has indicated he will publish it into law. The Senate had approved same-sex marriage on July 21st, and the deputies passed it on November 23rd.
