The blockade of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip has delivered more than one million children in the region into dire conditions, said the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) in a statement released on Saturday.

The statement noted that children in Gaza have been in shortage of food, safe water, shelter, and medical supplies for more than one month, as no aid has been allowed into the Gaza Strip since March 2, which is the longest period of aid blockade since the start of the conflicts.

The UNICEF warned that without these aids, malnutrition, diseases and other preventable conditions will likely surge, leading to an increase in preventable child deaths. UNICEF calls on all parties concerned to stop the conflict and reinstate the ceasefire, stressing that the blockade of humanitarian aid is a violation of the international humanitarian law, and has caused terrible consequences to the children in Gaza.
