Chartered plane for detained Koreans heads to U.S.

A t chartered plane to bring home the detained Korean nationals left for the United States on Wednesday. It’s a Korean Air aircraft, enough to bring back all the 300-plus Korean workers. The detention facility is located about 400 kilometers away fromhe airport, and the detained workers are expected to be transported by bus to board the plane.

Chief of Staff for Policy stated they were doing the best to wrap up the final administrative steps so that everyone can return voluntarily on the chartered flight. The presidential office said it delivered the Korean people’s indignation to the U.S. through various channels.

It also vowed to use this incident as an opportunity to push for improvements to the visa system. President Lee Jae Myung also stated he feels great responsibility and stressed that he will work closely with the U.S. to quickly push for reasonable reforms to prevent similar cases from happening again.
