Charity Feast: Food and drinks donation at People’s Square in Yangon

To celebrate the 1384 Myanmar Traditional Thingyan Festival, a charity food donation ceremony organized by the Myanmar Interfaith Dialogue Group continued on Saturday at the People’s Square in Dagon Township of Yangon Region. The Group hosts vegetarian biryani, drinks and water to all revellers.

Kaung Si Thu, Dawbon Township, said " It’s my second time joining the walking Thingyan activities. Here, there are also stage performances, water pandal and charity feasts to enjoy.  So, I’m very happy to enjoy the Thingyan festival here. And, I would like to invite everyone to come to the People’s Square and join walking Thingyan. I wish all the people in Myanmar good health and wealth in the New Year. I also wish our country, Myanmar peace and prosperity."

Thingyan is the Myanmar’s New Year Festival that usually occurs in middle of April. The dates of the festival are observed as public holidays throughout the country, and are part of the summer holidays at the end of the school year. This year, the Myanmar traditional Thingyan water festival falls from the 13th to the 16th of April.

Poe Kyar Khin, Shwepyitha Township, said " I’m happy to enjoy the Thingyan festival here. The charity food served here is delicious. And all of the Thingyan theme decorations are beautiful. I would like to invite people to come and join us. I’m going to spend all of Thingyan days visiting here. I wish all the people in Myanmar good health and wealth in the New Year and to be able to spend Thingyan festivals with their beloved ones."

Yu Kay Hlaing, Shwepyitha Township, said " Every charity food and drinks served here is delicious and every Thingyan activities here are interesting and enjoyable. I’m going to visit here the next day. I wish everyone good health and wealth in New Year. I also wish our country, Myanmar peace and prosperity."

The Myanmar Interfaith Dialogue Group began their charity food donationat the People’s Square since the 13th of April.
