Ceremony of traditional custom :Bago CM attended ethnic Kayin white thread tying ceremony

Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win and wife attended the ethnic Kayin traditional white thread tying ceremony held at the City Hall of Bago Township in the morning on September 1st.

First, the Chief Minister U MyoSwe Win and region Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Saw Lin Aung opened the traditional ceremony by giving 9 strikes on the Kayin traditional drum (Pharsi).

Next, the Chief Minister gave remark on the history of ethnic Kayin traditional white thread tying ceremony, urged to preserve the ethnic Kayin traditions and customs, tangible and intangible cultural heritages and invited to cooperate in the efforts for the development of the country and the peacemaking process together with other ethnic brethren.

Then, an ethnic Kayin language teacher clarified the history of Kayin traditional white thread tying ceremony and the attendees Kayin traditional cultural groups performed the traditional Done chorus dances. Next, the Chief Minister U MyoSwe Win provided cash assistance to the ethnic Kayin elders who will perform the ritual of tying white thread and the entertainment groups.

Afterward, a member of Ethnic Kayin literature and culture committee extended words of thanks and took the documentary group photo. Then, the Chief Minister, region Ministers and departmental officials offered white thread tying at the designated places and hosted luncheon and ethnic Kayin traditional foods.

The ceremony was attended by over 500 participants including Chief Minister and wife, Chief justice of region high court, region ministers, departmental officials, ethnic Kayin representatives from the districts of Bago, Nyaung Lay Bin, Taungoo, Thayawady, Nattalin and Pyay, Kayin ethnic language teachers, students and entertainment groups.
