Ceremony of Signing MoA: SAC member DPM UM attended the ceremony

"In order to facilitate the increased export of agricultural products, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony was held at Novotel Yangon Max Hotel on January 2nd.

The event was attended by the member of State Administration Council, Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications, General MyaHtunOo, who gave the opening speech. The MOA is, for the construction of new cargo handling piers and sheltered conveying systems at Thilawa Port area and Sule port, includes the expansion of cargo terminal infrastructure for greater productivity and increased export potential.

Specking on the occasion, the Union Minister, emphasized that the Thilawa Port must meet growing needs for handling general cargo, and modern cargo handling machinery must be installed and used to boost productivity. This is in line with the guidance of the Head of State to double export capacity.

The construction of new port piers and the use of modern cargo handling machinery will enhance the port’s readiness and capability to manage the expected increase in trade. The Union Minister also called for greater cooperation in port infrastructure development through government-to-business (G2B) and business-to-business (B2B) partnerships.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Myanmar Edible Oil Industries Public Company Limited (MEICO) and MCHEC for the construction of edible oil port piers at Thilawa Plot No (27), between Myanmar Agriculture Public Corporation (MAPCO) and MCHEC for the construction of cargo piers for agricultural products at Plot No (28), between Myanmar Agricultural Export and General Development Public Limited (MAGDPL) and MCHEC for the construction of cargo piers for agricultural products at Plot No (29), between Myanmar Rice Federation and MCHEC for the installation of sheltered conveying systems and construction of for the Sule Container Terminal and No. 1 to 4 Sule storage warehouses and piers, were signed. The total initial investment value for the projects amounts to 61 million USD, it’s learnt.
