Central Committee Meeting : Issues on the Fallow, vacant and virgin lands discussed

The 11th Central Committee on Management of Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Lands was held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation on Monday to effectively use vacant, fallow and virgin lands in carrying out construction tasks for all round development of other business sectors while implementing for the development of agriculture and livestock with advanced technologies for the nation’s food sufficiency.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Central Committee Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung said that it is necessary to pay insurance fee of only 10,000 kyats per acre to allow the rights of start using of vacant, fallow and virgin lands and the fees will be re-issued after the work completion so that the government is allocating the lands free for the citizens. 

He also said, those who have the right to use the vacant, fallow and virgin lands need to pay the annual taxes of lands after the end of tax exemption period. If they fail to allow the procedures, there will be confiscated the permitted lands that are operated in line with the law and the paid insurances fees will be kept as the state’s finance as well as there will be sued according to an existing law.

He urged all participants to discuss matters related to manage effectively vacant, fallow and virgin lands for agriculture, livestock, irrigation and other activities in accordance with the law. Then, the secretary of the Committee Director General reported the matters on the case files to be discussed at the meeting.

The meeting also discussed the reports of the case files with the remarks of relevant ministries, formation of the inspection team to scrutinize the use of vacant, follow and virgin lands, establishing special groups to verify the submission of objections on applying the use of lands and the cases on the land issues.
