The Central Committee for Organizing the 78th Anniversary Union Day held its coordination meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday. Chairman of the Central Committee Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win attended the meeting and made a speech, saying that the Union Day celebration will be held in line with the objectives, emphasizing on the unity and harmony among the ethnic nationalities and fostering peace.
He called for cooperation among the concerned parties based on the experience of previous State Level events. The meeting discussed the formation of the committees, work undertakings and future plans. The 78th anniversary Union Day will be held under the five national objectives - To strive for the perpetual development of the Union through the Union spirit, patriotic values, a sublime state of mind and a genuine nationalist spirit; To encourage collaborative efforts among all ethnic nationals to pursue dialogue for durable peace and to end armed conflicts; To collectively advance cooperation amongst all national people, the government, and Tatmadaw to ensure stability, peace and the rule of law; To enhance collaborative efforts to ensure nationwide stability and tranquillity, enabling the successful conduct of multiparty democratic general elections; and To promote equitable development across all regions and states, as well as enhance health, education and job opportunities for ethnic nationals. The celebration will also feature the MSME Expo and Competition.
