Census and Registration Initiatives: Strengthening voter accuracy and citizen rights

Chairman of Central Committee on Supervising Ground Census Enumeration, Chairman of Central Census Commission, Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing met with officials involved in census enumeration process in Ayeyawady Region on Friday.
In his speech, the Union Minister said plans have been made for Nationwide Population and Household Census activity in coming October. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts among all involved personnel to ensure the success of the implementation, citing its crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of the voters’ list and upholding the rights of every eligible citizen to cast their vote.
Following the meeting, the Union Minister proceeded to the City Hall to oversee the work processes involved in issuing National Registration Cards and collecting Biographic and Biometric data under the One-Stop Service program. In the Ayeyawady Region, census enumeration was carried out by 3,066 teams, surpassing the target with over 2.2 million population entries completed.
Once the collected data undergo scrutiny, the process of issuing household lists and National Registration Cards will proceed, with the implementation of the Pan Khin Project Phase-3. Concurrently, the Ministry is also working on issuing 10-digit Unique ID Numbers through Biographic and Biometric data.
