





According to an official from the Ministry of Industry, there are a total of 19 cement factories in Myanmar – 11 out of them are active and operated by the government and private companies.
During the year of 2022-2023, more than 8.12 million tons of cement were produced and the amount was able to meet the local demand. The suspended factories are small-scale ones and being upgraded from wet to dry production processes to reopen.
The No. 2 Heavy Industries under the Ministry of Industry in cooperation with a factory which can produce 5,000 tons of cement has been manufacturing the Alpha brand cement.
The No. 31 factory in Thayet Township and the No. 32 factory in Kyangin Township produced the cement with wet production process and are currently suspended due to the high costs, and works are underway to reopen as government-private joint venture.
