The 77th Anniversary Kachin State Day ceremony took place on the lawn in front of the Kachin State Government Office on Friday.
At the event, State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Defence Admiral Tin Aung San read out the message from State Administration Council Chairman, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, marking the 77th Anniversary of Kachin State.
Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan then extended greetings. During the event, Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung handed over 150 sets of 120-watt solar home system units for the state while Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn presented 80 sets MRTV DTHs, 100 DVB T2 set-top boxes to the relevant state officials. Subsequently, SAC members, Union ministers, relevant officials, and attendees enthusiastically took part in the Manaw dance performance to mark the closing of the celebration.
After regaining independence, the 10th January was designated as “the Kachin State Day” during the first meeting of the Kachin State Council Conference on 10 January 1948. Since then, the celebration has been held annually and this year reached 77th anniversary. On the same day, the Deputy Prime Minster and party attended the honorary certificate and award presentation ceremony commemorating the 77th Anniversary of Kachin State Day.
At the ceremony, Admiral Tin Aung San, SAC member Daw Dwe Bu and Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan awarded the recipients of the Management Excellence Award, Business Excellence Award and Social Excellence Award, respectively. In the evening, the Deputy Prime Minister and party attended a dinner reception to celebrate the 77th Anniversary of Kachin State Day. During the event, they enjoyed traditional performances by ethnic cultural troupes and presented cash rewards.
