Celebrating 3rd day of Thingyan: Union Ministers observed and supported the participants

In accordance with Myanmar traditional culture and customs, the water festival was held on April 15, the “akyat” day or the day of eclipse of Thingyan at the area on the junction of Si-pin Guesthouse-Pyinmana Taung Nyo  Road in Nay Pyi Taw Council area. The event featured traditional water splashing and festive pavilions. Union Ministers U Maung Maung Ohn, U Khin Maung Yi, Dr. Soe Win, and Deputy Minister U Ye Tint attended and showed their support.

First, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn observed and encouraged the traditional shampooing ceremony being performed for 10 elderly men and 10 elderly women from the "Garuna World" elderly care home, which included hair washing using traditional shampoo bark and nail trimming. He also inquired about their health and well-being.

Following this, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn and the Deputy Minister respectfully donated gifts to the elders and sprinkled them with sprig of Eugenia as a symbolic gesture to cleanse the misfortunes of the old year and to usher in blessings for the new year.

As part of the celebration in line with Myanmar cultural traditions and manner, traditional Myanmar snacks such as shwekyi and Mont lone yay paw (glutinous rice balls) were shared with the public and staff participating in the Thingyan festivities at the Nay Pyi Taw walking Thingyan pavilion.

Additionally, Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi and Union Minister Dr. Soe Win donated lunch consisting of rice with peas and chicken curry to the elderly at the Garuna World elderly care home.

Later, Union Ministers U Maung Maung Ohn, U Khin Maung Yi, Dr. Soe Win, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint, and responsible officials from Myanmar Economic Corporation (MEC) handed out gifts including Shwe Yin Aye, water cups, headbands, face towels, and phone pouches to the public celebrating at the Aung Bar Lay pavilion within the Walking Thingyan festival area.

Furthermore, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn, Deputy Minister U Ye Tint, officials from MEC, and donors distributed 1,000 lunch boxes of rice with peas and chicken curry to the festivalgoers.

In the afternoon, the Union Ministers and party mingled warmly with the public who were participating peacefully and respectfully in the Thingyan celebrations. They observed the traditional and gentle water splashing between individuals, as well as the operation of small shops and stalls set up in the area, showing support for both cultural activities and local vendors.
