


Cats are being given human COVID-19 medicine in an effort to slow the spread of the virus that has left thousands of animals dead on the island in Cyprus. Cats began getting the medicine last week, and the efforts are underway. Feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), a virus that is not transmittable to humans.
Some local animal rights activists had claimed that as many as 300,000 cats had been wiped out by the deadly disease. The Cypriot health ministry has issued instructions for the public. Packages of the medication are being delivered to the Veterinary Services by the Ministry of Health.
