


A ceremony to donate cash for missionary centers under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture by the Township Sangha Nayaka Committee Chairman Sayadaw Buddhanta Kawvida from Tetkathila Zeyatheikdi Pahtan monastery in Dagon Myothit East Township of Yangon Region was held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.
At the event, Sayadaw explained about the aim of donating 10.8 million kyats for carrying out missionary tasks to the missionary centers under the Ministry.
Later, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko said that it is very rare to make donation for missionary centers in the donations for religious affairs and the cash donation of Sayadaw will be supplicated to the Theravada Buddhist Missionary Ovadasariya Committee.
Under the supervision of the Committee, there are 614 missionary centers opened at the boder and hilly areas in regions and states and 601 monks, 41 nuns and 297 lay persons are serving missionary tasks.
Among the centers, donation will be made to the needy ones through the Department for Promotion and Propagation of Sasana of the Ministry in line with the advice of Theravada Buddhist Missionary Ovadasariya Sayadaws.
Afterwards, Sayadaw Buddhanta Kawvida presented 10.8 million kyats to the Union Minister for missionary centers and the Union Minister gave in turn certificate of honour.
