Cash donation ceremony: Shan State CM attended and offered donations

A cash donation ceremony for offering gold robes and reinstalling a new golden umbrella atop the Shwe Bhone Pwint Pagoda in Taunggyi Township, Shan State was held at the Community Hall of the Pagoda on March 4.

The Shan State Chief Minister, Commander of East Command, and distinguished guests observed the Five Precepts administered by presiding Sayadaw of Sun Lun Gu Meditation Center in Taunggyi Bhaddanta Aggadhammabhivamsa, and took the Paritta Suttas recited by the members of Sangha.

Following this, the Chief Minister U Aung Aung, the Commander of East Command Major General Zaw Min Latt, and state ministers offered the requisites and cash donations to the members of Sangha. The cash donation ceremony for Shwe Bhone Pwint Pagoda proceeded, the Chief Minister, state ministers, the State Advocate General, the heads of state-level departments, representatives from self-administered division, self-administered zones, district and township administrative bodies, state government sub-divisions, individual donors, and corporate donors donated cash donations. The donations were received by the responsible members of the Shwe Bon Pwint Pagoda’s board of trustee, in turn, presented certificates of honor to the donors.

After that, the attendees listened to a sermon delivered by the chairman Sayadaw of the Shan State Sangha Nayaka Committee, the presiding Sayadaw of Thein Taung Pariyatti Monastery in Taunggyi. They then shared the merits gained and concluded the ceremony.

It is reported that the total amount of donations collected for offering gold robes and reinstalling a new golden umbrella atop the Shwe Bhone Pwint Pagoda in Taunggyi amounted to exactly 462.333 million kyats.
