Due to the severe Typhoon Yagi and associated flooding, heavy rainfall has been reported in 54 townships across nine regions and states, including the Nay Pyi Daw Council Area.

This has led to continuous rises in river levels, resulting in flooding in wards and villages, with damage to roads and bridges. Many homes, offices, schools, and other buildings have been submerged or damaged, causing injuries and fatalities among people and animals.

In response to the loss of life and injuries caused by the storm, the Union Government is making efforts to quickly provide financial assistance. On September 17, the Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister directed to provide cash assistance to the casualties as quickly as possible during a disaster management meeting.

The National Disaster Management Committee, relevant ministries, and donors are currently providing financial support given priority to the families of the deceased. As of 24th September, in the Naypyidaw Council Area, there have been 11 fatalities in Pobbathiri Township, 7 in Pyinmana Township, and 4 in Zayyathiri Township, with a total of 22 deceased individuals.

Their families have received 5 hundred thousand kyats from the National Disaster Management Committee, 3 hundred thousand kyats from the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, and 2 hundred thousand kyats from the Naypyidaw Council, totaling 1 million kyats for each deceased person.

Additionally, it has been reported that the support for the families of those who died in the storm across other regions and states will continue. Efforts are also being planned to provide necessary assistance based on the condition of the injured and the extent of damage to homes.
