Cargo transport sector: MNA launches cargo flight service

The State-owned Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) is running passenger flights and now to expand transportation of goods by air, plan has been made to operate cargo flight services with a Boeing 737-400.

This Boeing 737-400 type of cargo flight arrived in Myanmar on 15th September 2023 and the first cargo flight service started to fly to Bangkok, Thailand via Yangon International Airport on 19th September. Myanmar National Airlines is planning to extend the cargo flight services to China, Singapore, Malaysia and India that are the regional countries.

Boeing 737-400 cargo flight can carry up to 18-ton of cargos and by extending cargo flight services, it can promote transporting export/import goods and also support the state’s economic development on the other land. In the very first trip on Tuesday, the cargo flight could transport 15.9 tons of commodities, it is learnt.
