Car free day

Today is a car-free Sunday in nearly 50 Flemish cities and towns. Organizers want to show the benefits of fewer cars in the city.

The 19 municipalities of the Brussels region are also car-free. As of 9.30 a.m., all approach roads to the city were closed.

In the city, public transport still runs and is also free, but cyclists and pedestrians rule the streets. In Antwerp, the car-free zone is much smaller, just the old inner city.
