Capacity Enhancement Training: UEC Chairman delivered the opening speech

The opening ceremony for Pre-Service Capacity Enhancement Training Course No. (3/2025), intended for staff officers who will serve in the Union Election Commission Office and various Sub-commission Offices, was held at the meeting hall of the Union Election Commission Office in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.

In his opening address at the training opening ceremony, Union Election Commission Chairman, U Than Soe, stated that this capacity enhancement training is being conducted so that the trainee officers can gain necessary knowledge related to electoral affairs and office administrative work.

He mentioned that the training will systematically provide both theoretical and practical lessons. He noted that laws and bylaws related to elections have been enacted to be followed and implemented during the holding of elections, and it is essential to be proficient in these laws, bylaws, and procedures. He also stated that Part (1) of the election will commence on December 28, 2025, and regarding the electoral system, in addition to the previously used FPTP system, a Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) system, which combines the FPTP and PR systems, will also be utilized.

He added that the training will provide systematic theoretical and practical instruction on the electoral system etc. The opening ceremony was attended by UEC members, responsible officials from the UEC Office, and 21 trainees. The training will be conducted from November 17 to 28, it’s reported.
