



The ceremony of completing pre worksite capacity enhancement training (batch 2/2023) for staff officers who will serve the duties at Union Election Commission and various levels of sub election commisson was held at the meeting hall of the UEC in the morning on April 7.
In his opening speech at the ceremony, the Chairman of Union Election Commission U Thein Soe said the Union Election Commission is conducting preparations to hold the free and fair multi party democracy general election successfully in the with the fifth point of process out of five-points roadmap of the State Administration Council and the Political Parties Registration Law and By-Law were promulgated during January, 2023.
Under the enacted law and by-law, there have been a total of 63 political parties that have applied including 50 parties applied to register and 13 parties applied to establish. Among those political parties, there are 12 parties which will organize across entire union and 51 parties to organize only within a region or state. Those political parties are being scrutinized in line with the law and by-law on Establishment Right and Registration Right. The responsibility of an election commission is not just to hold the election and elect the representatives.
Its responsibility covers to be able to implement the genuine and disciplined multiparty democracy system which is a basic principle of the state constitution, to build the union based on the democracy and federal system by holding free and fair election and electing competent parliament representatives. By electing in such manner, it facilitates for the improvement of judicial branch and executive branch and brings a good governance and clean government. The trainees officers need to study election related law, by-laws and procedures to be well-read, to address for the implemention of election process to be accurate, correct and fair and put effort to be decent persons and good personnel reliable by the state and department.
Also present at the occasion were the UEC members, responsible officials of the Office of UEC and 60 trainee officers.
