Canadian FM meets Indian counterpart as both sides seek to rebuild ties

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar met Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand in New Delhi following the recent agreement to reinstate ambassadors after a diplomatic dispute. During the meeting, both sides highlighted efforts to restore and strengthen India-Canada ties.

Anita Anand, Canada’s Foreign Minister said "The meeting that our officials had relating to security and law enforcement just a few weeks ago here was very productive, and that dialogue will continue. Both of our governments agree on the importance of those dialogues. Both of our governments agree on the importance of elevating the relationship going further."

The meeting focused on advancing bilateral cooperation across trade, investment, agriculture, science and technology, civil nuclear collaboration, AI, critical minerals, and energy. Security and law enforcement dialogues were also reviewed, with officials agreeing to continue discussions.
