The first malaria vaccination campaign for children backed by the World Health Organization begins in Cameroon, Africa on Monday, with the distribution of nearly 30 million jabs.

According to the government, the jab will be offered free of charge and systematically to all children under six months old at the same time as other obligatory or recommended vaccinations. Cameroon is the first country to routinely give children a new malaria vaccine as the shots are rolled out in Africa, and the Central Africa nation hopes to vaccinate about 250,000 children this year and next year.
