US President Donald Trump witnessed the signing of a ceasefire agreement between Thailand and Cambodia on Sunday, a move aimed at ending hostilities and fostering closer ties between the two countries.

Donald Trump, US President said "Both countries are agreeing to cease all hostilities and work to build good neighbourly relationships, which they've already started. 18 Cambodian prisoners of war will be released, and under this agreement, observers from ASEAN countries, including Malaysia, will be deployed to make sure that the peace prevails and endures. And I have no doubt that it will."

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet praised Trump’s role in facilitating the agreement and announced he had nominated the US president for the Nobel Peace Prize.
