Bus Service During Exam: YRTA’s Arrangements For University Students

Yangon Region Transport Authority (YRTA) held its regular press briefing on Wednesday.

This 9th press briefing in the year of 2019 was on the current bus operation system and transportation arrangements for the university exam period. Most of the university exams across the country started on the 18th of September - as part of the divided project of YRTA, the Authority has expanded the Yangon bus services for the university students’ convenience during their exam period. It’s changed the YBS bus routes and run times for students during their exams.

Joint Secretary, Yangon Region Transport Authority, Hla Aung said “So, YBS No. 70 is now running from Myanmar Maritime University in Thanlyin to the City Hall of Yangon starting from 5 a.m. This morning, as special programme, we had 10 buses No. 76 transport 92 students to their exam centers. We also arranged gathering points for the students plus we have 3 to 7 vehicles in reserve. We and concerned officials have been working together to reduce traffic congestion during exam period.”     

Data from YRTA shows that for Yangon transport sector, 2,500 out of 6,656 vehicles registered in August 2018 have been operating daily.
