Bulgarian Kukeri Dancers 'Drive Away Evil Spirits' in Traditional Festival

Ritual dances performed at the Kukeri Carnival in Bulgaria. Men dressed up in costumes and masks and went around villages, dancing with bells to drive away evil spirits, sent off the old year and marked the beginning of Spring.

According to a dance leader, they preserve the masks which passing down from father to son, from grandfather to grandson. Ritual dances are preserved in Bulgaria to bring clean, peaceful, fertile and successful to the region.
