British ex-minister of state for security Tom Tugendhat is eliminated from the race to be the next leader of the Conservative party after receiving the fewest number of votes among candidates.

Former foreign minister James Cleverly led the vote with 39 ballots in the bid to replace ex-premier Rishi Sunak after the party suffered a historic election defeat to Keir Starmer's Labour party in July, ending 14 years of Conservative rule.
