Brisk Demand: Colorful oil paper lanterns for Thagingyut period

In Kyaukpadaung Township of Mandalay region, colorful oil paper lanterns carried from Pakokku city of Magway region are in brisk demand before the upcoming Thadingyut lighting festival to celebrate nationwide in the country.

They are being sold in different sizes and designs. For the children who used to play with them, such Myanmar traditional handmade colorful lanterns using bamboo strips and papers are attractive and providing high demands for the makers and sellers across the country.

During Thadingyut lighting festival, pagodas, homes, streets and several places throughout the country are decorated with electric lights, colourful paper lanterns, candles and many more with different ways of lights. This year, three days of celebrations for “Lighting Festival” will take place between 8th to 10th October.
