A major repair work for Paingkyone Bridge in Hpa-An District of Kayin State is underway since the last week of June. Crossing the Myo Creek, the 1,184 feet long bridge is being repaired by spending 500 million Kyats allocated by the local government.

Junior Civil Engineer, Ministry of Construction, Ye Myint Htun said “It was just a bridge with wooden floor and iron rail, and we are now repairing it. The bridge is a link between Paingkyone, Kawkareik and Myawaddy. The bridge is closed temporarily from 1:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. while the repair work is underway.”

The bridge repair work is being undertaken by a group of construction workers from Special Bridge Group-14.
