BRICS Media Summit: Myanmar delegation leaves for Moscow

Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn left Yangon on 12th September to attend the BRICS Media Summit which will be held in Moscow, Russian Federation.

They were seen off at Yangon International Airport by Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Myanmar Mr. IskanderAzizov and Officials.

Established in 2009 with the comprise of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South African nations, BRICS aims to implement the tasks through collaboration among the member countries. With the additional memberships of Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates in 2024, BRICS members became nine, along with the cooperation by Saudi Arabia.

Member countries alternately host the BRICS Summits annually. This year’s BRICS Summit will be hosted by Russian Federation in coming October. Although BRICS was initially organized to prioritize for the investment opportunities, the organization is now emphasizing on peace, security, development and cooperation progress according to geopolitical group through the coordination and discussion of multilateral policies in the annual conferences.

Moreover, the BRICS Media Summit has been organized to strengthen cooperation among the member countries through discussion among the experts in various sectors. This year’s BRICS Media Summit will be hosted by Russian TASS News Agency in Moscow from September 13th to 17th.

The meeting will be attended by heads of leading media organizations from BRICS member countries, as well as media representatives from countries interested in expanding cooperation with BRICS.
