Breastfeeding Week: MOH holds World Breastfeeding Week 2023

The Ministry of Health held the commemorative event for Word Breast Feeding Week 2023 and Nutrition Promotion Week at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on 4th August along with the attendance of Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win.

In his speech, The Nutrition Promotion Weeks are composed of a specific theme for each week: World Breastfeeding Week; under five children and school children nutrition promotion week; expectant mothers and lactating mothers nutrition promotion week and I-O-dine Deficiency Disorders (IDD) Elimination week. 

This year’s commemorative theme for world’s annual breastfeeding week is “Enabling breastfeeding: making a difference for working parents.”

He continued that under the 12 objectives of the State Administration Council, in social affairs, in order to raise human resources that are needed for building a disciplined democratic nation, while the ministry has been implementing the basic and necessary nutrition promotion activities to turn out the intelligence future outstanding youngsters along with carrying out the basic health care services, the cooperation efforts are needed by different sectors.

Next, the Union Minister, Deputy Minister, directors general, invited guests and officials concerned observed the displayed mini booths, implemented the works of feeding nutritional Vitamin-A for under 5 children and giving Vitamins and supplements for the expectant mothers.
