Breakfast Talk: Not-For-Profit Private Sector Collaboration

Breakfast Talk under private sector collaboration with not-for-profit organizations in sustainable development in Myanmar took place in Yangon on Wednesday.

EuroCham Myanmar (European Chamber and Commerce in Myanmar) has launched an initiative called EuroCham Myanmar Responsible Business Initiative in June 2019. This initiative is to give European companies the opportunity to share their best practices when it comes to responsible business. This breakfast talk brought together with companies and not-for-profit organizations operating in Myanmar, the government and civil society to further discuss under the topic and to raise awareness on critical importance of working together with the not-for-profit and the private sector towards the same ambition.

Executive Director, EuroCham Myanmar, Marc de la Fouchardière said “The aim is to raise awareness on the importance of not-for-profit private sector collaboration…to raise awareness on the critical importance of working together hand in hand with the not-for-profit and the private sector towards the objectives of Myanmar Sustainable plan and towards the objective of the sustainable development goals of the United Nations”.

At panel discussion, the matters relating to positive and mutual collaboration among businesses, government and NGOs and the partnerships were discussed.

Senior Vice President, Telenor, Min Thu said “So in the panel we discussed why NGOs partnership is so important, why this collaboration is needed to ensure that the companies and NGOs can achieve the common objectives and also the challenges that the companies’ energy on face in this partnership. So, we had the representation from government, representation from NGOs, and representation from both local and foreign companies here and civil society. So, it is a good panel to have.”

This breakfast talk event was the second event and the first one took place under the topic of air pollution.
