Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who turns 80 next week, confirmed Thursday he will run for a fourth term in office in 2026 elections. Lula had hinted in recent months at a fourth-term run, without confirming he would be a candidate. In December, he underwent emergency surgery to stop a brain bleed linked to a bad fall two months prior.  Lula served as president for two terms between 2003 and 2010.
