Brazil's Environment Minister Marina Silva holds an event in Belem, capital of the Amazon state of Para, involving government officials, Indigenous peoples, civil society, scientists and international organizations.

The "Amazon Dialogues" will draw up proposals which will be submitted to the leaders of the countries that share the Amazon before their summit on August 8 and 9. The meeting of the eight-nation Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization, also held in Belem, will serve as something of a dress rehearsal for the COP30 UN climate talks, which the city will host in 2025.
