The mother of Chilean President-elect Gabriel Boric told Tuesday of her pride and hope for her son's leadership of the country. Speaking in the garden of the family's home in Punta Arenas, Maria Soledad Font said she believed her son was fulfilling his "destiny" and encouraged Chileans to "watch him work". Former leftist student Boric defeated far right lawmaker José Antonio Kast in Sunday's presidential runoff with 56% of votes. At 35, he will become Chile's youngest modern president when he takes office in March and only the second millennial to lead in Latin America, after El Salvador's NayibBukele.
