Boosting Paddy Production: Monsoon paddy planting methods demonstrated in Sittwe

Under the supervision of the Rakhine State Government, the demonstration of 3 monsoon paddy planting methods was held at a Model plot in West Model Ward of Sittwe Township in the morning on 21st July.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister U Htein Lin stressed to emphasize the production of qualified paddy within the state, to meet the targeted yield per acre, to choose right pedigree paddy variety, to practice systematic planting methods and to use chemical and natural fertilizers properly.

Then, the Chief Minister urged the local farmers to practice standardized planting methods, complying with the instructions given by the Agricultural Mechanization Department to ensure high yield per acre and quality products to penetrate the international market. He also called for the concerted efforts of the farmers, departmental and regional organizations to strive for the development of the state’s agricultural sector. An official later clarified the 3 monsoon paddy planting methods.  

Next, the Chief Minister and party oversaw the demonstration of 3 monsoon paddy planting methods; paddy planter method, seeder method and straight row method using planting rope and gave necessary instructions. They then viewed the variety of paddy species and agricultural inputs at Land Utilization, Seed and Crop Protection Exhibition.

Then, the Chief Minister and party cordially met with the farmers and coordinated requirements to ensure systematic paddy planting and high yield per acre. They also provided honorary cash assistance to the participants in the demonstration.
