Boosting Export Sector: Discussion on the strategies for bolstering exports

Union Minister for Commerce U Tun Ohn met with exporters at the Yangon Region Staff Officer's office on Friday to discuss strategies for bolstering exports.

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister highlighted a recent announcement that the exchange rate for export income into Myanmar kyats will be adjusted to 25% from 35%, effective as of August 8, 2024, as per Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM)’s guidelines. He urged all exporters to focus on enhancing export activities from all aspects and to strive for boosting the nation’s economy.

Subsequently, the Chairmen of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), its affiliated associations, and exporters reported on their current activities and future plans. The Union Minister then coordinated the needs based on their reports.
