The Bank of Japan (BOJ) said it would keep its benchmark interest rate unchanged. The decision comes after the central bank raised its policy rate by a quarter-percentage point in December to the highest level in 30 years.

The BOJ said at the end of its two-day policy meeting on Friday that it will continue to target a short-term rate of around 0.75 percent. The bank raised its forecast for growth for the current and next fiscal year in its outlook for economic activity and prices.
