Bodies of 8 illegal gold miners found

Brazil's Federal Police found eight bodies of suspected illegal gold miners inside the Yanomami territory on Monday.

Earlier this year, Brazil's government pushed illegal gold miners out of Yanomami territory, saying their mining had caused widespread river contamination, famine and disease for one of the most isolated groups in the world. Brazilian Environment Minister Marina Silva told a news conference that according to satellite data, around 75-80% of illegal gold miners had been removed.
