A Sumatran rhino has successfully given birth at Indonesia's Way Kambas National Park on Sumatra Island, the rare birth giving a boost to conservation efforts for the critically endangered animal. The World Wide Fund for Nature estimates fewer than 80 Sumatran rhinos remain in the world, mainly on the Indonesian islands of Sumatra and Borneo. The calf is the third offspring of 23-year-old rhino Ratu to take place in the sanctuary, and the fourth Sumatran rhino to be born in Way Kambas.
