Biometric data collection: Taninthayi Region CM observed the process

On January 6, the Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, along with the Commander of Coastal Region Command, Region ministers, departmental officials, and staff from the Tanintharyi Region visited the Atak (Phet) School in Kyonzu Township. They observed the biometric data collection process being conducted by the Kyunsu Township Department of Immigration and Population staff from the students at Basic Education High School (Pa-Htet) in Pa-Htet Village.

The e-ID system for recording personal information of the public in Kyunsu Township began on as of June 30, 2023, till January 5, 2025, over 29,000 individuals had completed their registration.

After that, the Chief Minister and party visited Myeik University, where they attended a legal awareness seminar organized by the Tanintharyi Region Office of the Advocate General and Myeik University. During the seminar, the Chief Minister addressed university students, explaining that as citizens who have reached the legal age, they are entitled to the fundamental rights and duties guaranteed by the Constitution. He emphasized that the government protects all citizens equally under the law, and eligible citizens can exercise their rights to vote and stand for election. He encouraged the students to use their rights responsibly and urged them to study the Constitution to better understand their rights and duties as citizens.

Next, the Region Advocate General U Aung Than gave talk on the provisions of the 2008 Constitution and election-related laws to the university's rector, pro-rector, faculty members, and students.

The Chief Minister and party then visited the Shan Chaung Community Nursery of the Forest Department, located in Shwepay Village, Myeik Township. The Director of the Forestry Department, U Win Naing-4, briefed them on the tree planting activities planned for the rainy season of 2025. The Chief Minister provided guidance on necessary actions and inspected the planting activities in the nursery.
